Now, the best deal I see (as of today) for Quicken Premiere is two years for $119 (on the Quicken website) or fourteen months for $44.99 on Amazon. It's not quite correct to say 'nothing has changed.' In the past, I'd upgrade every three years for around $70. Now, if you want to argue the pricing of the subscription.or the horrible product it's become introducing really bad bugs with each and every upgrade.or that they place a horrific subscription renewal reminder pane that takes up 1/4 of your screen space if your subscription expires.then I can hop on board with that. I'm not much of a Quicken supporter, although I use both Windows and Mac products.but the argument that Quicken has changed their business model by doing something nefarious by 'all of a sudden' terminating downloads is nothing new whatsoever. Quicken has had that for at least ten years (maybe more).and the same complaints happen with every year version that had downloads expire, usually around 3 1/2 years. I never understand those complaining about the termination of online/downloading services.

Therefore, in reality, nothing has changed EXCEPT the term of the termination is now shorter (anywhere from 12 to 27 months depending on where you purchase the subscription) and the price. and in order to continue downloading you'd need to update your Quicken product. Under the 'older' model (pre-subscription), your ability to download or import transactions for Quicken 2017 would have expired anyways on April 30, 2020. Plus there's other inaccuracies that make the planner less than accurate.So.let's explain this further. Well first off, the dorks at Quicken Inc haven't even updated the planner to reflect the new updated Required Minimum Distribution for retirement accounts.

For now, at least.īut, I use the Tax Planner and muddle through Quicken's shitty Lifetime Planner, so I'm OK paying for the subscription. So far, the subscription data file is compatible with Q20.

If I ever decide to NOT renew my subscription, then I'll reinstall my Quicken 2017 version, update using the available Mondo patch to the next to last update and just use that. I guess they feel if they cripple the screen space enough and nag the hell out of you to renew your subscription, you'll eventually cave and do it.Ģ017 is the last version without the crippled screen space and nag screen. The nag screen is still there.and apparently Quicken Inc has no intention of removing it.
